Family Of Al-Mustapha To Appeal Death Sentence

The family of Hamza Al-Mustapha, the Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State General Sani Abacha has said that Monday’s ruling by a Lagos High court that Al-Mustapha must die by hanging for the murder of Hajia Kudirat Abiola is a temporary setback.“We strongly believe in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, but I must confess to you that we are shocked by this ruling.
But in every situation we shall give glory to Almighty Allah, the only thing I can tell you now that we are going to appeal and we will be vindicated at last I promise you.”- Younger brother to Major Hamza AL-Mustapha, Alhaji Hadi Al Mustapha.

Hadi Al Mustapha told reporters that the Monday’s judgment was a temporary setback, promising to pursue the case to its logical conclusion. He said the family received the verdict with shock, describing the case as having political undertone, adding that Monday’s judgment have proven beyond reasonable doubt his brother’s case was politically motivated.

Publicity secretary of the Movement for Al-Mustapha’s Freedom, Alhaji Husaini Isa Mairiga said “the judgement took us by surprise and we will not allow this judgement to go like this, lawyers will be consulted on the next line of action”
